Afternoon Activities

Open Program from 3:30-5:30 p.m. is great for activities like open shooting, boating, climbing, field sports, swimming and program area instruction.

Program areas will also have organized and themed events/competitions that will be promoted throughout the week. The program supplement will list these various activities and will be given to you when you arrive at camp.

You can pick up a map of the marked Hiking Trails in the Program Hall.

Evening Programs

Sunday

  • Adult Leader Meeting, 7:30 p.m., Program Hall: A first day orientation to prepare you for the rest of the week. Please send at least one adult leader from your unit and bring advancement changes as well as any blue cards that have not been put in mailboxes.
  • Campwide Tours, 7:30 p.m.: An opportunity for new Scouts to become familiar with the layout of camp and returning Scouts to be introduced to changes from previous years. The tour will conclude at the Campfire Circle for the Opening Campfire.
  • Opening Campfire, 8:30-9:15 p.m., Campfire Circle: Following dinner, sit back and enjoy the staff welcoming you home with skits, songs, and special messages.
  • Cracker Barrel, 9:15-10 p.m., Commissary at Liberty, Dining Hall at Freedom: Following the campfire you will have a chance to meet the staff while enjoying some special treats.

Monday - Tuesday

  • Campwide Event, 7:45-9 p.m., Monday: Campers will compete as patrols in a variety of activities. Events will challenge each member’s Scout skills, teamwork and spirit.
  • Vespers, 7:45-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Duty to God Chapel: The twelfth point, Reverent. Take time to reflect all that is good. The Camp Chaplain is looking for any Leader or Scout with a musical instrument or musically trained background to play at the Vesper Services. If interested, please notify your Camp Director to contact the Chaplain by Sunday night to arrange for your place in the service.

Wednesday

  • Visitor Night, 3:30-10 p.m.: Invite your friends and family to camp for a visit and give them a tour. During the afternoon, visit program areas and in the evening have them visit your campsite for the campsite cookout and the OA ceremony.
  • Unit Campsite Cookout, 6:30, your campsite: Each unit will select and cook their evening meal in their campsite. Guests are welcome. Please notify the Program Hall by Sunday how many guests you will have. Guest meals are $5 each. Freedom picks up food at the dining hall. At the Leader meetings, you may request certain staff members to eat at your campsite. Expect about three staff to eat with you (don’t worry about their food when ordering).
  • OA Call Out Ceremony, 8-9 p.m., Meet at Parade Field: Each Scoutmaster should talk with the OA Coordinator on Sunday to discuss your unit’s involvement with the OA during your stay.

Thursday

  • OA Brotherhood Ceremony, 8-8:45 p.m., Reservation Circle: All Brotherhood and Vigil Order of the Arrow members are encouraged to attend these induction ceremonies.
  • Campwide Event, 7:45-9 p.m.: Campers will compete as patrols in a variety of activities. Events will challenge each member’s Scout skills, teamwork and spirit.

Friday

  • Closing Campfire, 7:45-8:30 p.m., Campfire Circle: To finish off your last night with us, we will have some special entertainment and recognitions to share with you. Some units will be chosen to perform skits or songs for the rest of camp to enjoy.

Saturday

  • Closing banquet and Slideshow, 7:30-8:30 a.m., Freedom Dining Hall, Liberty Commissary: Following breakfast, we will present your very own slideshow filled with memories of your week. A copy can be purchased in the Program Hall upon checkout. Proceeds from these sales go to further our technology at camp.

Leader Meetings

  • In order to share important information and answer leader questions a unit leaders’ meeting is scheduled each day (except check-out day) in camp. We will meet at 9:15 a.m. in the Program Hall (7:30 p.m. on check-in day) to review the day and discuss tomorrow’s activities.

Senior Patrol Leader Meetings

  • In order to help strengthen the youth leadership in your unit, a senior patrol leaders meeting is scheduled. We will also review of the day and discuss tomorrow’s activities. Meetings will be at 12:05 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Program Hall.

Open Program

  • From 3:30-5:30 p.m. each day, all program areas will be opened for you to stop by and get involved. It is a great time to get extra help on a merit badge, to complete a partial from last year or just participate in great activities available in that area.
