Independence Check-In Process
With many Scouts and Leaders arriving and checking in at the same time, we need your help. We want to make this the easiest, fastest and most efficient check-in process you’ve ever experienced. Staff will be available in the parking lot and at various check-in points to assist wherever needed.
- Arrive between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. with your entire unit ready to check in. Check-in time begins at 12:30 p.m. Early arrivals will be asked to wait at the gate until 12:30 p.m. before proceeding to the camp.
- A member of the staff will be your campsite host and will assist and lead your unit throughout the entire check-in procedure. They will provide a packet of information related to your stay including several documents to update and return.
- Move into your campsite with your gear. Only one vehicle per unit will be allowed to go past the parking lot and into your campsite.
- As soon as possible, change into your swimming suits, grab a towel and put on shoes to continue the check-in process. (You can come to camp wearing your swimsuit to save time.) Be sure to have all the medical forms with you. Be prepared to present a copy of everyone’s forms for camp to keep in alphabetical order at the medical recheck station.
- After your medical recheck move to the Aquatics area for your swim tests. This is required for anyone to enter the Aquatics area during your stay. Each camper will receive a “buddy tag.”
- Next, move to the Dining Hall for dining orientation.
- Return to your campsite, review and inspect camp issued gear with your campsite host, complete setup and change clothes for the campwide event that will begin at 4:30 p.m. We recommend bringing your uniform shirts to the campwide activity and proceeding to Flags from there.
- Flag lowering will be at 6:15 p.m. with dinner following. After dinner a staff member will lead you on a tour of camp. This is a great opportunity for new Scouts and Leaders to become familiar with the layout of camp and returning Scouts to be introduced to changes from previous years. The tour will conclude at the Campfire Circle for the Opening Campfire.
Please Note
- For questions in regards to advancement and activities, visit the program hall anytime during the afternoon.
- All financial matters will be handled during your appointment with the Business Manager that is scheduled at the Leader’s meeting.
- At least one leader from every Pack or Den will need to attend the Leader’s Meeting at 7:15 p.m. (during the camp tour and before the Opening Campfire) in the Program Hall.
Independence Check-Out Process
With as many as 1,200 Scouts and Leaders departing at the same time, we need your help. We want to make this the easiest, fastest, and most efficient check-out process you’ve ever experienced. Staff will be available in the parking lot and at various check-out points to assist wherever needed.
Breakfast and Slideshow, 7:30 a.m.
At each of the camps this year, we will serve a hot breakfast on check-out day. Independence and Freedom will be in the dining halls, with High Adventure at Pathfinder and Liberty at the Commissary.
New this year, we will show each camp’s slideshow made from photos taken throughout your stay. It will highlight the activities all of your Scouts participated in. Souvenir copies of the slideshow will be available for purchase in the Program Halls.
